The evolution of Akris began in 1922 when Alice Kriemler-Schoch, a fashion-forward and entrepreneurial woman, began making aprons out of her modest sewing studio in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Alice’s son, Albert Kriemler joined the business in 1944 at the age of 19. He took over the family business and is today the creative director of the label. Alberts' passion is to design refined pieces for every moment in the busy woman’s modern life. He believes in discreetly luxurious designs that not only complement her body but express her individuality. Albert shares, "when a woman walks into a room, I want people to notice her personality first and her clothing second." His passion for art often informs his design process, having collaborated with various painters, sculptures, photographers, and architects on his collections.
