Gunnar Havstad Modernist Pewter Sculptural Vase, 1950s
PLEASE NOTE: This item is only available for pickup at our Oakville location.
This excellent example of mid-century Modernist design is by Norwegian sculptor Gunnar Havstad (b.1901 - d. 1973) for his Pewter studio Havstad in Nesodden, Norway.
A design from the Machine age, Havstad brought to life the Modernist design principles of realising an honest expression of the function and natural material through the closely grooved circles to give a tactile décor.
A beautiful example of Scandinavian Modern design, this work is suitable for standalone display or lightly accented as a Ikebana vase.
